This Galley guide covers it all. Measurements, tips, and more. I'll be using it in my kitchen when we aren't sailing!
This book was easily understandable, well written and provided solid, actionable information. Very well worth the $20 or so spent, but along with all the helpful bits of advice I was surprised to see no mention whatsoever of a barometer. Nothing. I understand that this book (as it clearly states a few times) wasn’t written to make amateur meteorologists out of anyone but a barometer is one of the cornerstones of understanding what the weather is doing in your immediate vicinity. Even a brief mention of how to interpret a reading/readings would make an already very helpful book even more so.
Like all things Boat Galley, well thought out and well organized down to the last detail.
We just received our copy of “Weather Basics for Boaters”. Lokking to be a helpful resource!
Thank you for this great reference book. Looking at anchorages by wind direction is so useful. Thanks
I am no Chef, so having this booklet handy in the galley is super useful!
I have not actually used these yet "in the field", but wanted to take a moment to let people know that so far they are as advertised. They worked perfectly right out of the box, are pre-paired as described and my wife is excited that we can have both hands free while working together at different points on the vessel. The clarity is very good so far. Hope this helps. - Dwayne S.
We have been cruising Maine for 15 years and have learned several new things in the first few chapters. Full of useful info that makes our cruises safer and more comfortable.
Recommended without qualification.
I wish I knew about this before I spent hours going through my crusiing Guide and marking which direction each anchorage had protection from. This should be a very helpful resource.
Practical/actionable recommendations for safe harbors.
Just received the paper version. Looks like it will be very useful based upon our 10 years cruising experience already.
The headsets will be very helpful for sure. Thanks for the insight.
A very usable guide, particularly for neophytes who recognize the need to expand their marine knowledge. Also useful for experienced Mariners possessing a less than perfect memory.
A really nice resource to have stationed near your VHF, especially for those not comfortable with VHF use. It could be used for safety briefings for all guests.
Purchased a number of items, including the ship, log, the cookbook, wiring, chart, document holder, outboard engine troubleshooter. Send them as a gift. The receiver of the gift is very happy, and they have experience with boating. Well done!
I love the convenience and concise nature of the Quick References. Response to online orders was very fast!
The book is an excellent choice for those that like to keep it simple without too much fluff. It is basically the "cliff-notes" of weather for boaters.
Easy to read. Subjects well organized. Got it this morning and I'm done reading it.
Valuable information.
We always receive great tools and advice from Carolyn. The VHF reference guide is perfect and much appreciated.
Sometimes the trick is learning what NOT to say. I like the Handy VHF Reference Guide because its concise instructions are categorized and clean. You can find what you need so you can say and do what needs doin'. And the trifold form factor makes it easily fit somewhere by the helm. VHF; it ain't a CB radio, good buddy. We step two-three off the key. (PS. DON'T EVER SAY THAT ON YOUR VHF! Use the Reference Guide for VHF-speak.)
I used the AICW Guide on my recent Florida Mini-Loop and found the information there to be priceless. I fully expect the Gulf Coast Guide to be even more important since I live in Naples and intend to spend a great deal of time exploring the Gulf Coast.
