Waterproofing

The difference between the ugo® pack and other waterproof bags is the uZIP® drysuit-style zipper, the same airtight closure used in drysuits and hazmat suits. It's third-party tested to an IP68 rating, so your laptop and gear stay dry even if the bag goes fully under.
What does IP68 actually mean? It's two ratings in one, and the ugo® hits the top of both. The 6 means the bag is completely dust-, dirt-, and sand-tight. The 8 is the top of the water-immersion scale: protection against continuous submersion, well past the one-meter, thirty-minute limit of the rating just below it (IP67). For the ugo®, that's been tested to keep water out down to 50 feet, with no time limit. Whether it's a splash, a dropped bag, a dunk off the dinghy, or a full trip overboard, your laptop stays dry. -
How to Be Sure the Zipper Is Fully Closed
The waterproof zipper feels stiff, and that's exactly how it should feel. That firm, snug action is what forms the airtight seal, so give it a confident tug all the way to the end of the track. You won't break it. Then squeeze the bag: if air can't get out, water can't get in.
That last check is something a roll-top can't give you. With a roll-top, you fold it down, clip it, and trust it's tight enough; with the ugo®, you confirm the seal in a second, before you ever leave the boat.
